Update

I have been busy in my session room treating patients, it's wonderful to grow alongside you and meet the beauty in each of you. I have also been studying many different things, including symbolic journeys, resource tapping, flower remedies and their surprising power and as always going deeper and deeper into the understanding of the complex and amazing human body.

I share more of my thoughts on facebook than here, mostly because a share button in so easy! So please check it out via the link at the top left of the page, and feel free to contact me!
All my love

A little update

Well, it's been a while, as you can see i'm not avery regular blogger! I wanted to give a little update on my activities and progression as a therapist. I have been doing several post graduate courses in the last wee while including experimental anatomy to go into a deeper felt sense and understanding of how the body feels and moves and is connected, sound and craniosacral therapy, bone consciousness and craniosacral therapy and dentistry and craniosacral therapy is coming up in two weeks. I've also been experimenting with relaxation and breathing techniques. All these things feed into my already steady and strong practice.

I am so happy and grateful for all the many patients who have come through my doors and have spoken of me to their friends or family. You are all a constant humbling inspiration to seek the Health! Thank you and I sincerely hope to do justice to your diverse beauty.

Words from some masters

I recently came across some beautiful talks with some of the founding fathers of biodynamic cranio sacral therapy and wanted to share one with you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu5za7k8I1M

Also an interesting and somewhat controversial interview with one of the tutors on my course who I know personally to be an amazing practitioner and teacher:

And a talk with an osteopath that is just rather touching:

I hope you enjoy and that it helps enrich your understanding of this diverse and powerful technique.

Some poetry that has helped me to connect to and deepen my work, that inspire me and encourage me to go further.

“Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”
―
Rumi

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.”
― Rumi

“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
― Rumi

Reason is powerless in the expression of Love.”

― Rumi

“Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone's soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.”
― Rumi

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
 - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“Let silence take you to the core of life.”

I'm so happy to announce that I am the secretary for the cranio-sacral association in France.

It's the firs association here and it's been a tough crowd to break into, i'm so happy to be working with a wonderful team of other therapists to create a great place for other therapists to develop in and to grow legitimacy here in France.

Working with ear glue and ear infections

Children and babies often suffer from various ailments, including ear glue or infection. Largely these troubles are related to the eustacian tube a thin passageway between two major bones of the cranium that allow for drainage. Cranio-sacral therapy can help to mobilise this area and allow for better drainage and also to help the immune system to recalibrate to prevent further reccurence of the issue.
For a fantastic review of how cranio sacral therapy can help with this issues related to children and babies I reccomend this blog on cranio-sacral therapy.

If you have any questions related to birth and cranio-sacral please don't hesitate to contact me via the 'contact' page.

As a complement to your existing programme of care.

Occasionally I have patients concerned that they should not be using cranio-sacral therapy in tandem with other kinds of self care (traditional medicine, acupuncture, psychotherapy, re-birthing, osteopathy etcetera). What I would like to say is that cranio-sacral therapy is extremely supportive of other therapies and is in no way contraindicated as used along side these other traditions which have their own place and value in our care.

Of course there is the concern for some about costs, and I understand that completely - I guess it's about finding the best combination that one needs for oneself to be able to get to a better place of well-being with the resources you have available. As a therapist I am open to discussing reduced prices for situations such as this.

As an example I have found personally that psychotherapy done alongside cranio-sacral is particularly profound as it allows both the individual to express verbally with someone their situation and also to process that experience through the body to allow for deeper levels of release.
Another example is someone undergoing surgery, thank goodness modern medicine is able to help us overcome some of the illnesses we previously would not have been able to survive, cranio-sacral's role is again one that is greatly supportive and allows the body to heal faster and cope with the necessary but essentially invasive procedure that it has undergone and the patient to integrate the experience not only the physical (shock and tissue damage) but also emotional (stress, fear, anger etc) aspects of undergoing surgery.

So don't hesitate to combine, it does wonders! And feel free to contact me if you have any questions about whether cranio-sacral can be useful for you!
All the best and stay well,
April Dixon

Welcome all to my blog on cranio-sacral therapy. It is not my intention to talk much here personally about the practice but rather to provide links to interesting articles and perhaps ideas surrounding this treatment for well-being and health that will hopefully give you an insight into the profound and far reaching effects of cranio-sacral therapy.

Here are two links I have foud incredibly interesting on cranio, one is more for practitioners and those interested in body work and understanding the human organism but includes a nice meditation. It is all about the Liver! The energy powerhouse of the body, an incredible organ that may surprise you in it's size and functions, and also in how much it is interconnected throughout the body!

The Liver is The Most Amazing Organ in the Univer…: http://youtu.be/_snhMkz01Zo

The second is an article that shows how cranio-sacral can be useful in helping those who have suffered from addictions in healing the addiction and the trauma, and also in helping those who have lived with addicts (either as a spouse, a child of an addict or as a concerned friend) cope and let go of some of the more emotional aspects of what they have lived through - which as we cranio-sacral therapist (amongst others) know, can be felt very much as tensions or aches in the tissues of the patient.

A very happy and healthy 2015 to you all!

Lovingly
